Jaguar have unveiled a stunning new concept model with a revolutionary drivetrain at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
The company, which in recent years has fallen on financial hardship and suffered greatly through the recession, previewed a new model which uses jet turbines to charge electric motors, giving immense power and highly impressive CO2 and mpg figures.
The system, which Jag claims is entirely possible, consists of 4 electric motors, one at each wheel, which work together to produce 780bhp and 1,180 lb/ft , which would propel the car from 0-62 mph in a theoretical 3.4seconds and on to a top speed of 205mph. With it’s hi-tec drivetrain the car can achieve these feats whilst producing a meagre 28g/km of CO2, roughly a quarter of what many of today’s modern hatchbacks produce.
This could revolutionise eco-motoring in years to come, and shows that Jaguar has weathered the recession to come out at the cutting edge of Car design and technology.
