An Edinburgh-based consultant has been given the title of Recruiter of the Year at a glittering ceremony in London last week.
David Tait, Associate Director with Keillar Resourcing, was handed the top title by the Institute of Recruitment Professionals. Tait received his award from Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive, at the award ceremony held at the London party venue the Brewery.
Dubbed a ‘prestigious’ title, he also took home the prize for Best Client and Candidate Experience of the Year.
The judges on the panel said they were impressed with his ability to tackle challenging assignments, including moving many candidates from the UK to Dubai and Qatar. He overcame the problems of cultural differences, managing expectations for candidates and co-ordinating interviews across three time zones, which were all common occurrences in his field of work.
They said: “David’s level of genuine interest to both company and candidates has resulted in some exceptional matches” and added that his future saw him as an ambassador for the whole of the industry.
This is the second year the ceremony has taken place and last week’s event featured 17 awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award for Peter Searle of Adecco in recognition of his work as one of the recruitment industry’s strongest advocates for raising standards and lobby government.
Compering the awards dinner, attended by 370 people, was Sandi Toksvig, the award-winning broadcaster, comedian and author, with “Voice of the Balls” Alan Dedicoat announcing the shortlisted nominees and winners.
In his opening address, Kevin Green told the audience: “All the winners tonight will be looked upon as role models for the industry.”
