One person taken to hospital after blaze at Edinburgh sandwich shop.

Edinburgh North Bridge fire

Traffic was diverted and the Scotsman hotel evacuated after a fire at Pret a Manger’s North Bridge branch on Sunday evening.

The police and The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene after the alarm was raised at 5:30pm. What we do know so far is that one person was taken to a hospital after the incident and his condition is unknown.

A spokesman for the fire services quoted in Edinburgh Live stated: “Operations control mobilised six appliances to the scene. Crews extinguished the fire within a ground floor building.”

Due to the heavy smoke coming from the premises of the fire, the adjacent Scotsman Hotel was evacuated in order to prevent further damage.

The following buses passing through North Bridge have been diverted: 7, 8, 14 and 49. For more information visit the Lothian Buses website.
