Bonnyrigg Rose will play Clyde in the fourth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup after the draw was made live on BBC Scotlands’ Sportscene programme last night.
The Lowland league side booked their place after a stunning 2-1 win against League One Montrose.
Despite finishing the game with ten men after the dismissal of Bryan Young, goals by Ewan Moyes and Jonathan Brown were enough to extend the Rose cup run.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News boss Robbie Horn said:
“It’s a fantastic result for the club. You could see what it means to the community and what a turnout.
“Bonnyrigg as a town is just getting bigger and hopefully we can get even more people to come along and watch the team.”
While Bonnyrigg Rose match themselves against Scottish League One opponents, Edinburgh City and Broxburn Athletic face tough matches against Premiership opposition.
Edinburgh City, who beat Annan Athletic 4-3, will play Hamilton Accies.
Broxburn Athletic will travel to Paisley to take on St Mirren after overcoming Inverurie Loco Works on Saturday.
For the city’s Premiership sides, the tie of the round will see Hibs take on Dundee United at Tannadice.
Hearts have a home tie against Airdrie.
